Partita No II in D Minor bwv 1004 by Johann Sebastian Bach

The Partita No. II in D Minor BWV 1004 by Johann Sebastian Bach can be purchased in either the key of D Minor or in F Minor. Bach’s counterpoint writing has been maintained in the flute version in order to make it possible for performers to make their own decisions about how to best represent it. Effective, compensatory steps that performers might take can include (but are not limited to), 1. adding different degrees of space between consecutively placed, independent voices and 2. playing multiple, simultaneous “sonorities” as either sequential pre-beat, during-the-beat, or post-beat grace notes, appoggiaturas, or arpeggios (as well as choosing not to play some of them).

the Partita II (below) was recorded by Tim Lane, flute, in the key of F Minor. The flute was made by Gary Lewis (No.3). The work was recorded and mastered at Skyline Studios, Eau Claire, WI by Ivar Lunde, Jr.
