Niccolò Dôthel was a flute player in the court of Duke Francis Stephan of Tuscany in 1737. In addition to his employment in the court orchestra, Dôthel was active in the Grand Duke's military band from 1736 to 1807. He was also as a musician in the Teatro della Pergola in Florence between 1765-1798. He was a well-regarded flute player, teacher, and composer whose works were published in London and Paris.
